I ran into the same issue. Must be something to do with the user running the Windows service. It wasn't populating the passwords into the database, so essentially couldn't connect. Instead I ran EAL in the foreground (from the start menu) and added the servers once more and this time it succeeded. Maybe give that a try?
i have the same issue here. everything runs on a single local machine...(126.96.36.199)
LiveLinkException [HR#09989]: Bridge is not fully defined
it seems it comes from the HFM server
HFM Server XXX: password is not defined
i used a user who is db owner of the HFM sql database...is this the right thing to do?

No unfortunately. I spent 3 hrs with Oracle support, sent them all my logs....everything is set up properly and up and running, but when i open the bridge, nothing is available...
And Oracle doesn't know any better...their last comment was to re-install...frankly i do not see what difference it wold make
I'm surprised Oracle could not resolve this. I've only dealt with 2 people for EAL and both were able to solve my issues.
When you look at your bridge in EAL, do all items except HFM show as available?
for HFM setup in EAL I used a user that had the HFM administrator role. the user with database rights is setup in the Data Stores section.
Check the eal.log
if you see this error- "java.io.IOException: PKI-02002: Unable to open the wallet. Check password" that may indicate that the EssbaseAnalyticsLink Windows service may have been started as a different user than the one who installed EAL. It should be started as the same user who does the installation to ensure proper access to all files
I had this issue and had to update the EAL folder and all subfolders to grant Administrators group full control. Bridge is up and running now.
- Go to the Windows Service Control Panel
- View the Properties of the EssbaseAnalyticsLink Service
- Choose the LogOn tab
- Enter the domain user and password who installed and configured EAL
- Restart the EAL Service
should be starting the EssbaseAnaltyicsLink Windows Service as the same user who did the installation and configuration of EAL.
