I am kicking the idea around to upgrade my OVM from 3.1.1 to 3.2.1. However, I am running OVM 3.1.1 against an Oracle SE database, so my question is: will the patch upgrade move my repository from Oracle SE to MySQL? As this isn't stated in the manual, I suppose it not to do that, which would in turn raise another question:
is there a way to migrate from Oracle SE (which I tend to consider overkill for OVM anyway) to MySQL?
What I expect from reading between the lines in the 3.2.1 beta release notes is that the GA product will include a Oracle 11 to MySQL conversion tool. Here's the text:
9. Upgrading Oracle VM
Oracle VM Release 3.2 Beta is not backwardly compatible with previous Oracle VM releases. You cannot
upgrade from a previous release. You must perform fresh installs of your Oracle VM Servers and Oracle
VM Manager. Any information in the Oracle VM Installation and Upgrade Guide related to upgrading from
a previous release is not supported in this release. Upgrading will be supported in the Oracle VM general availability release.
