ATG Cache setMaximumCacheSize returns a int (what is the memory unit)

In Atg CollectionFilter there is a method to set the maximumCacheSize. which take int as the param.
what is the memory unit for which we need to consider ie. like Mb or Kb or GB?
its not mentioned in the doc or did I over look it ?

maximumCacheSize specify the maximum number of bytes in the cache with 0=cache nothing and -1=unlimited cache.
