I'm at my wits end trying to get Oracle to look into an account issue for me. I've opened about 5 or 6 separate requests now through the "online help", each time it's closed with some nonsensical comment asking for information that has already been provided or something completely unrelated... and there is no option to reply.
I changed the email address registered to my Oracle account, and since doing so it seems to have created a completely new account, losing all my past posts and reputation. This is my new account I am posting from now. My "old" account seems to have take on the name "600254".
All I want is for somebody to merge the two accounts together!!
The last request I opened was closed with the response
Please provide us all the forum threads related to your OLD account, so that we can help you further."
Ok - So I'm expected to send Oracle a list of every one of the 701 posts I had on my old account???
Apologies, but please can someone from OTN just give me a straight answer, and one which I can reply to!?
Thanks for the reply, the annoying thing is that all I wanted to do was change my registered email address! Over on Oracle.com that worked fine, all preferences and account details saved, however on here it seems to have re-registered me.
I'm a bit gutted that I lost all my posts/reputation from the last 5 years simply by the act of wanting to change my email address. :(
I am an admin. Account merge is not possible, the software does not support it.
The best thing that can be done is to swap accounts so your old history is restored (at the time the new account was created)
However, to do that, we need to know the user ID of your old profile, so providing a link to an old post will do that. Only 1 link is needed.
Be happy, things are much better than they were even just a few years ago.
I have one very old (23 years, I think) email where I still get developer newsletters after registering for them in the last century. I was happy a few months ago when I was finally able to login under that email and change preferences. But it didn't work. I find it humorous. Either there is yet another alias they aren't telling me they are sending it to, or there are still propagation errors in some Oracle marketing sites. Or something was broke when I did it.
Thanks for the reply. Would that use my current or old email address though? The reason I had to change is that I am moving companies and my account was registered to my company email address.

I think if you just provide brwalke_us with a link to one of your old posts (or a link to the user account for that old user) then he'll swap the profiles around so your new profile (with your new email address) will be linked to your old account and old posts, while your old profile (with old email and now cr@ppy handle) will move to this new users history of records. Ok, so you won't be able to get at the new posts you've made since creating this new account, but at least you'll have access to all your old ones.
