Workforce Planning - Using Generic Dimensions in variable designer
Nov 11, 2012 10:26 AM
I am currently working on a workforce planning application.
I am trying to work out a scenario of
employee transfer from a Cost Centre in an Entity to another Cost Centre in an Entity
I have then go to variable designer to edit the "DepartmentFrom" and "DepartmentTo" variables, hoping to
refer both Cost Centre Dimension and Entity Dimension
Then, I found out that I am unable to select a generic dimension, in which my "Cost Centre" dimension is a generic type.
Only the standard dimension types are available; Account, Currency, Entity, Period, Scenario, Version, Year.
Is there any way that I can make a generic dimension available when choosing the dimension type in variable designer?
Please help, this might affect my dimension model in my workforce planning app.

You can create the Variables at App or Database level instead of creating Global Variables.
At app or database level you would get the option to select Custom dimensions in the Variables.
