The file "start here" [file:///home/oracle/StartHere2010.htm] in the top left corner of the desktop is a readme that lists the versions of all the software used in the labs.
For my copy of 11.2, the version is 3.1.2. I expect that you have the same version.
Regardless, you can upgrade the APEX install following the instructions in the release 4.2 installation guide.
+... thread moved from the Oracle VM for x86 forum+
to the APEX forum, for closer topic alignment

I installed APEX via the VirtualBox and Developer Day.ova download at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/databaseappdev-vm-161299.html . I don't know which version of APEX was installed (can't find the software on my PC). I want to learn APEX using version 4.2. How can I upgrade this Developer Day workshop setup so it uses APEX 4.2 ?
says that Apex 4.1 is included in the Developement VM.
However I'm also interested to know if there will be a version soon that includes 4.2.
