ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump

Hi team,

When i tried to execute a function in oracle 10g ,it threw me below exception and exited.

ksedmp: internal or fatal error
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ptmak()+372] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0x000000010] [] []

Could you please advise on above exception. what was the root cause for this issue.

    Hi,

    have a look at the document "ORA-07445 [ptmak()+107] During PL/SQL Debug [ID 726611.1]" on Oracle Support. It has to do with debug (or upgrade your DB from 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5).

    If that's from XE 10.2 and due to a bug, there's no chance of patching since there are no patching with XE (since XE is non Supported edition).

    Could you please advise on above exception. what was the root cause for this issue.
    Perhaps best bet is to migrate to 11.2 XE, if you can't workaround the issue e.g. change the application.
