For information, I've just tried with lastest preview version "jre-7u10-ea-bin-b15-windows-i586-07_nov_2012.exe"
... and the issue is still present (when I go to the Java site to check which version of Java is installed on my pc : http://www.java.com/fr/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1)

I'd like that (although I'm not sure how to do it and I don't think we've got many Java experts here) but, anyway, we've never had any issue until version 1.7 so, another way to look at it is to expect/wish for version 1.7 to work as well as previous 1.6 versions (without users having to dev anything).
As pointed out in my prefious post in this thread, the bug ID says this was fixed in version 8.
So I downloaded the BETA of version 8 and it does seem to be fixed in 8: http://jdk8.java.net/download.html
So it would be nice if someone from Oracle could fix version 7. (I don't want Early Access Releases on my network)

same issue here in our environment as well. any eta for java 8 being available or this fix coming to version 7 ?
http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=7184444 states the bug is resolved, where actually it isnt.
Affected Versions: 7... not BETA, but likely for the final shipping version, since the bug resolution was dated a mere three weeks ago.
Fixed Versions: 8
We all know (or should) that Java version 6 (1.6.x) does not have this bug. The bug appeared in Java version 7 (1.7.x)
As per the hyperlinks I and others have provided to the bug ID, it has been reported as being fixed in Version 8. This translates to 1.8.x.
So we can wait for a fix in 1.7.x, OR...
We can wait until version 8 (1.8.x) is officialy released.
You can download the Early Access release for version 8 (1.8.x) from http://jdk8.java.net/download.html and see for yourself if it works with your proxy set-up. It works with ours (ISA 2006)
Hope this clears this confusion up!?
