But is it possible to put all the columns in both reports in criteria, then create two pivot tables, one that simulates the first report, and a second pivot table to simulate your other report.
Put both pivot tables one on top of the other in the Compound Layout view and the Column Selector at the very top. This will change out the columns in both tables, basically satisfying what you are trying to achieve.
