      Hi,

      I need to increase sga from 1G to 8GB on 11g db oracle. Ram is 16G

      Please let me know the db parameters and kernel parameters that needs to be altered.

      Thanks,

      Srikanth

              Take a look at the Initialization Parameters section of the Reference Manual. Just go down the list of parameters. Which ones do you think look like they are involved with SGA and other memory management issues? I'll give you a hint. With 11g, you might want to focus on a parameter called MEMORY_TARGET. But don't bypass reading about the others.

                post SQL & results that show 8GB is the appropriate value.; as opposed to any other arbitrary value.

                  Assuming you are using spfile

                  alter system set sga_max_size=8G SCOPE=spfile;
                  alter system set sga_target=8g scope=spfile;

                  shut immediate

                  startup
