1.Machine name = FINANCE
We have a production instance with the Sid name 'PROD'

2.Machine name = ERPTEST
Test instance
We have cloned prod instance on test with the same Sid and running fine but create another
Instance for development we have shut it down apps and db services for temporary.

Development instance
Now we need to create an other instance for development of prod and want to target it where test instance has already been configured.
Issued is, we are stuck, how to change sid name for dev server.

pls advice, how to create development server with new Sid.

thanks.

The easiest and most-reliable way to change it will be to re-clone again, this time around specifying the correct sid & machine name etc.

You do not need to reclone it from the source instance, just run pre-clone on the target instance, skip the copy part, and run postclone (at this stage you can rename it).
