A possible solution is to use a formula in conjunction with conditional formatting.
The formula (in a cell other than [a,1]) would look something like: IfThen([a,1]>0,1,IfThen([a,1]<-5,2,3))
For values greater than or equal to 0, the cell value is 1
(else) For values less than -5, the cell value is 2
(else) For all other values the cell value is 3
Conditional formatting of the cell with the formula would be set to display "good" if the value is 1; "bad" if the value is 2; and "neutral" if the value is 3.
