    ASM Spfile

    user13375747
      Hello everybody,

I have a couple of questions regarding ASM SPFILE.

1)How ASM instance can read the SPFILE from ASM disks, id they are not mounted?

      2) How ASM knows where to get SPFILE if there is no init.ora file in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs with SPFILE=[path to spfile]
      parameter?

      Thanks in advance

            it's MAGIC.

The olr.loc file tells ASM where to locate the spfile and on which physical disk it is located. The header-section of the physical devices CAN contain things like OCR, VOTING and SPFILE.
