Hi
I have backup file (it seems CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP was OFF) when I backup database. Now when I try restore the database I have RMAN error

RMAN>restore spfile from "D:\ORACLE\BACKUP\1FNKFCVT_1_1";
Starting restore as 22.11.12
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: SID=98 device type=DISK

channel ORA_DISK_1: no AUTOBACKUP in 7 days found
RMAN-00571:===============================
RMAN-00569:====ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS=====
RMAN-00571:===============================
RMAN-03002:failure of restore command at 11/22/2012 10:36:51
RMAN-06172:no AUTOBACKUP found or specified handle is not valid copy or piece

How can I check the validation of the file 1FNKFCVT_1_1? Notepad shows me the oracle ways inside this file.

thaks for answers.

    Hello,

    Welcome to OTN !
    RMAN-06172:no AUTOBACKUP found or specified handle is not valid copy or piece
    Are you sure you have specified the correct backup piece name ? Does this file "D:\ORACLE\BACKUP\1FNKFCVT_1_1" contain any extensions as ".bak", if so then specify it completely with the path.

    Spfile backup would be available in the backup piece of controlfile if you have taken the backup of controlfile separately. Or you can find the backup of spfile/controlfile in the backup of datafile 1. Try connecting to the production database and do:
    RMAN>list backup of controlfile summary;

    I have backup DB using this script:
    RMAN> RUN {
    2> ALLOCATE CHANNEL d1 TYPE DISK;
    3> BACKUP FULL FORMAT 'd:\oracle\backup\%U'
    4> DATABASE;
    4> }
    after this I've got 2 files 1ENEKETV5_1_1 (300Ggb) and 1FNKFCVT_1_1 (10 MB) the last as I understand the file which contains spfile and controlfile. Actually now I have not database (raid crash), I reinstalled system and oracle.
    it seems maybe 1FNKFCVT_1_1 corrupted how can I check this file for valid?

    Try two things:
    First, try this path 'd:/oracle/backup/1FNKFCVT_1_1' (change back slash with forward slash)
    If that does not work, try the validate backup command.
