Thanks for your help Gents. It's fixed now, I think.
Hakan, I had already re-installed CA, I should have mentioned that in my initial post, sorry about that.
Jim, your idea of increasing the logging level helped me see that there were differences under the ODBC registry key between this env and the one that worked. Recreating the ODBC entry didn't fix it up, but adding the keys manually did.
