Since you are doing an Incomplete Recovery (recovery to a specific Sequence or SCN), take Set 2.
        Take the commands from
"-- Set #2. RESETLOGS case" to the end.

I specified the suggested archivelog file as displayed then it states that "no longer needed for recovery"
see below. What to do next? Am i missing something for the recovery?

You seem to have jumped over some lines from the create controlfile script.

Issue the RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE command manually.

Carry on applying as many archivelogs as you have / want to apply and then CANCEL after the last file.
After the CANCEL, if the database is consistent, you should be able to ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS.

"file needs more recovery" does mean that the database is not yet consistent.

You could try a RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE UNTIL CANCEL
                      and then CANCEL
and see if Oracle reports a message that more recovery would be required.

Issue a CANCEL and see what messages are returned by Oracle.

That's it then. You are done with an Incomplete Recovery upto the last ArchiveLog that you had applied.

                                  Congrats.

                                  Take a fresh backup asap.
