The grand total column always shows the grand total level. So it always hit the aggregate table only.If you add the same to the first level of the hierarchy then it will hit the aggregate table/detail table based on the level.

My aggreagated measure is at the Grand Total level. When i query it at the Grand total level, it hits the aggregate fact table which is expected. When I drill down from Grand Total to the Brand level of the Product Hierarchy, shouldn't the BI server hit the detail fact table and not the aggregate table?
Depends on the columns pull in the criteria tab BI server decides the source which is aggregate or detailed fact table.
At any point of the values are correct, when fact table is used in the physical query means BI server calculated at grand total level which is costly than aggregate.
Hope this helps pls mark if helps
So you mean to say that the BI server could use the aggregate table even while drilling down (for lower hierarchical levels)?
During rolling up, its understandable that aggregate table is used, but while drilling down, i never knew it was possible that the BI server could use the aggregate table for its calculations rather than using the detailed fact table
No its other way.. based on your content tab settings BI server switches the source table from agg to detail fact..
If helps pls mark
Go To BMM layer, and check the Content tab on Fact LTS for Product Dimension, it should set to Product Detail Level.
Try this. Hope it helps.
