In 11g R2, you can us TAG for searching into the Request Catalog. You can make use of that feature.
Thanks for your reply Neeraj.
We have LDAP Sync configured in our environment and the custom UDF for the role actually ends up in the LDAP - and the requirement is to search based on those values.
Now, from the document snippet you linked to:
"◦Arbitrary tags: While defining a metadata if user has marked that metadata as searchable, then that will also be part of tags."
Does this mean that the UDF from the role is automatically considered by OIM as part of the tags? Or does it need eany configuration?

It seems that you have created a UDF in OIM Role form and you want to use that UDF as a tag for seach.1 person found this helpful
If this is correct then I don't think that UDF automatically becomes part of TAGs. Catalog administrator has to defined that values as a User Defined Tag in the Catalog.
Login as Catalog Administrator > Catalog > Search for your Role > In Catalog Metadata define your search tag in User Defined Tags.
If you want to automate this process then you can take help of OIM 11g Catalog APIs (updateCatalogItems).
Thanks Rajiv. Is there any sample code (or more information) available about using those catalog APIs?
Thanks Rajiv. Looks like there is no sample code available then.
