VDI 3.4.1 and mysql filling the disk space

      Dear VDI gang,

I wonder if someone else hit that issue apart of me.

Basically I run a small Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 3.4.1 (Build 10) on Oracle Linux release 5.7, single server, with 30 Sun Rays connected to it.

Recently my beloved VDI crashed and when trying to pinpoint the reason I realised that /var/opt/SUNWvda/mysql filled the whole free space on that disk (approx 10GB). As a quick fix I moved it somewhere else and created a symlink which cured it - but still cannot understand why this database is so huge. After having a closer look it turns out that it is not the actual size of VDA database but rather a binary logs being soooo large. At least this is what I think.

My question, did you see this behaviour before?
Is it safe to run "PURGE BINARY LOGS BEFORE 'some date here';" ?
and then trigger it regularly from cron?
And why this binary log is so huge in the first place?

I'm not an expert, neither in VDI area nor DBA, just trying to get my head around all this.
So any hint would be gratefully received :-)

      Cheers

Interesting, ours isnt blowing up like that... whats the output of ls -lath /var/opt/SUNWvda/mysql/ look like?

We have 400 seats in VDI and our database dir is only 98M, the id_logfile is only 5M.

BTW: Do you have anything in mysqld-slow.log?
