    Habib,

can you please run the following statement as APEX_040200?
    select apex_instance_admin.get_parameter('INSTANCE_ID') from dual;
I suspect the value is null, because something went wrong with your install.

    Christian

    Hi Christian

You are right. It is null. What's the fix now? As This is a production machine and has about 20 workspaces running live.

    SQL> select apex_instance_admin.get_parameter('INSTANCE_ID') from dual;

    APEX_INSTANCE_ADMIN.GET_PARAMETER('INSTANCE_ID')
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi Habib,

while I could tell you how to fix this, it's necessary to have a very close look at the install log first. Since this instance preference is missing, who knows what's broken or missing in other places. Even though it's a production machine, maybe you should consider re-installing 4.2, or at least file a service request. The necessary steps to fix this instance will leave you with an unsupported production instance, otherwise.

    Hi Christian

Thanks so much for you help. I don't have Oracle Support available therefore it is not possible to file SR. I can provide you install logs. Please let me know how can I send you that?

Thanks again for the time and effort you are putting to solve me problem.

    Hi,

    please also check
    select count(*) num_prefs,
            sum(case when length(value)>0 then 1 else 0 end) num_notnull_prefs
      from wwv_flow_platform_prefs;
on that instance and another one where everything is working fine.

    Hi,

    Output on the problem server:

    SQL> select count(*) num_prefs,
    sum(case when length(value)>0 then 1 else 0 end) num_notnull_prefs
    from wwv_flow_platform_prefs; 2 3

    NUM_PREFS NUM_NOTNULL_PREFS
    ---------- -----------------
         55          55

    Output on the fine server:

    SQL> select count(*) num_prefs,
    sum(case when length(value)>0 then 1 else 0 end) num_notnull_prefs
    from wwv_flow_platform_prefs; 2 3

    NUM_PREFS NUM_NOTNULL_PREFS
    ---------- -----------------
         70          70

    Hi,

this means that several other instance preferences are also missing. There must have been install errors, although the install log you provided did not show any. Maybe it was from a different install.

Sorry, I can not post instructions how to fix this by directly modifying the Apex repository. Apart from missing instance preferences, other parts could be broken, too. The safest option is to export all workspaces and re-install Apex.

Thanks. I agree with you. It is not safe to run this instance now.

I will be thankful if you can just give me some tip to minimize the workspace export/import effort. I have an idea that I will export all workspaces and application using APEXExport.class through command line. But I am worried about other objects e.g. images/staticfiles/Saved interactive reports, Interactive report subscription etc. Do you have an idea to save all of them through command line?

Just for your info, values missing from my instance are:

    ALLOW_DB_MONITOR
    APPLICATION_ACTIVITY_LOGGING
    APP_EXPORT_TO_DB_ENABLED
    DELETE_UPLOADED_FILES_AFTER_DAYS
    ENABLE_TRANSACTIONAL_SQL
    HPROF_DIRECTORY
    INSTANCE_ID
    MAX_SCRIPT_SIZE
    MOBILE_DEVELOPMENT_ENABLED
    PLSQL_EDITING
    SERVICE_REQUESTS_ENABLED
    SQL_COMMAND_MAX_INACTIVITY
    SQL_SCRIPT_MAX_OUTPUT_SIZE
    TRACING_ENABLED
    WEBSHEET_SQL_ACCESS
    WORKSPACE_EMAIL_MAXIMUM
    WORKSPACE_MAX_OUTPUT_SIZE
    WORKSPACE_PROVISION_DEMO_OBJECTS
    WORKSPACE_WEBSHEET_OBJECTS

    Hi Habib,

I'm afraid that not everything can be exported yet, e.g. logs. You should probably try with one workspace first and see how it goes.
