Refer Metalink Doc Id :
*OERR: ORA 1858 "a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected" [ID 19182.1]*
but how come i've been able to execute the same for all this time as i have still not changed the data on the pprocinstance_bkp table.
ankit barsainya wrote:It is definitely a Data Issue that you and only you can debug. As you have investigated erroneous data exists between 140 and 150 record (not necessarily, but most certainly). It may have worked till date because the data was correct till date. In case you are trying to convert String to Number, then maybe you have encountered a Character data which resulted in an error.
i'm executing a load test using the below statement:
INSERT INTO BPMBI.PPROCINSTANCE SELECT * FROM BPMBI.PPROCINSTANCE_BKP WHERE ROWNUM < 501;
I've been trying to check what the issue is and when i execute the rownum < 140 works fine while rownum < 150 is showing the same error.
Can you please suggest what might be the issue here?
A better approach I would suggest is use of DML Error Logging on PPROCINSTANCE and the error table shall record the instances that cause the INSERT to fail and you can then investigate the failure data.
For more information and setup read Error Logging.
Its working now.
the error was with the data itself.
The query is resolved.
