yes, like this:
ALTER TABLE parts_tbl ADD PARTITION part_t4 VALUES (4);
ALTER TABLE table_name ADD PARTITION part_name VALUES(values);
Also, you may want to look at ALTER TABLE SPLIT PARTITION clause in the documentation. There are some good examples of range,list and hash partition splitting.
I have tried this and it is showing my partition in USER_TAB_PARTITIONS as well.
What actually confusing me is the fact that i have nowhere specified the column-name. So how can it be assured (without adding actual data) that the new partition created is LIST and on the column i want?
Is there any Data dictionary table where i can see column-partition mapping?
Thanks for all your help guys. I got my answer with USER_PART_TABLES, USER_PART_KEY_COLUMNS.
