Howto install other products on Oracle Virtual Box Appliance

I've been using the oracle OS to run the Oracle database as described at [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.htm|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.htm] .

As suggested in another thread Parameters for Oracle VirtualBox to install Linux for Oracle Database Servr , I'm posting some details here so I can use yum to install emacs and other software.

Does uname -a give us sufficient information on the versions?
      [oracle@localhost ~]$ uname -a
      Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.18- #1 SMP Wed Sep 29 15:40:03 EDT 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
      [oracle@localhost ~]$
Here is what happens when I try to use yum. What am I doing wrong?
      [oracle@localhost ~]$ yum install emacs
      Loaded plugins: security
You need to be root to perform this command.
[oracle@localhost ~]$ sudo yum install emacs
      [sudo] password for oracle:
Sorry, user oracle is not allowed to execute '/usr/bin/yum install emacs' as root on localhost.localdomain.
