The OVM Manager 3.1.1 console proxy launch issues appear on Win7 64-bit running the 32-bit J2SE version 6 update 31 and
32-bit J2SE version 7 update 9 Java Web Start. Both J2SE 6 and 7 as well as 32-bit and 64-bit can be installed on your 64-bit
        Win7 workstation.

Workaround is to manually launch console session using 64-bit J2SE version 6 update 31.

The Chrome version "23.0.1271.95 m" plugin information details for Java, "chrome://plugins":

Using 64-bit IE8 appears to have the proper 64-bit plugin enabled but fails also.

Thanks for the work around option.

We are about to put in an official support request for this. We are currently installing an OVM environment for a client who has spent over $800k on Oracle hardware. We definitely do not want to have to tell the client that they have to downgrade to an insecure version of Java in order to use the product they have spent close to a million dollars on.

i just updated to the latest java today when prompted and can no longer connect via console. Its an iMac. On my laptop I can connect fine (another mac) - I obviously skipped the java update. What a pain.

I have raised an SR for this (status: Development Working), I would suggest others do the same.

There is also a KB doc 1505993.1 with the 'solution' : Remove Java 7 from the machine that you are using to access the OVM Manager UI in order that Java 6 is used

FYI the launch of the proxy is defined by the following Win registry entries,

                    C:\Users\ME\Desktop>reg query HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jnlp

                    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jnlp

                    Content Type REG_SZ application/x-java-jnlp-file

                    C:\Users\ME\Desktop>reg query HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JNLPFile\Shell\Open\Command

                    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JNLPFile\Shell\Open\Command
                    (Default) REG_SZ "C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\JavaFX 2.1 Runtime\bin\javaws.exe" "%1"
