I've a query in regards copies of databases, but specifically cloning test environments using VMWare, but even more specifically(!) employing linked clone feature of VMWare to copy & thus deduplicate test environments off the back of a snapshot standby database...environment is 11gR2 over RHEL5 EE.
For most test environments cut down copies are enough - however I'm looking to create copies of DBs but employing deduplication of master data, like EMC snapshots. Just wondering if anyone has achieved this with VMware linked clones off a snapshot of a virtual VM server? I know there are netapps cloning products available to do the same thing also.
How do I ask a question on the forums?

What exactly do you consider to be a "linked clone"?
Yes I appreciate it's a bit ambiguous. Linked clones is a term for virtual environments, they're used sometimes for oracle database copies within vmware. I'll raise in the virtualization forum.
Moving query to virtualization forum
You should be asking this in the VMWare forums, not the Oracle Database Installation forum
