Hi,

Brand new T4-2, had to reconfigure front plane hard drives in raid mirror using Fcode and the onboard SAS controller. Installed Solaris 10 from DVD no problem, ejected dvd and rebooted after install. Now when it boots It hangs just after the copyright notice.

A boot -v from console on ILOM:
{0} ok boot -v
Boot device: /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@e/scsi@0/disk@w3e45aad3ddba51af,0:a File and args: -v

(and it hangs here)
I can reset with ILOM and have rebooted a few times to no avail.
Any ideas??

    Hi.

    According: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23075_01/pdf/E23080.pdf
    Mininum required patchset:
    147440-03
    147149-01
    147153-01
    147707-01
    147159-03

According provided output used kernel below required level 147440-01
You can try boot from dvd again and add required patches.

You problem described at document ID 1363950.1
    Recommened solution -install Patch:147440-03

    Regards

I have no personal experience with the T4-2 platform.

Hopefully others will also choose to reply, but what release of Solaris 10 did you install?
    SunOS Release 5.10 Version Generic_147440-01 64-bit
    Copyright (c) 1983, *2011*, Oracle and/or its affiliates.
... suggests you are okay, but the question needs to be asked.

    The T4-2's product notes
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23075_01/html/E23080/z400066e1037220.html#scrolltoc
    say ...
    Oracle Solaris 11 or later
Oracle Solaris 10 8/11 OS with required patchsets
Oracle Solaris 10 9/10 OS with the Solaris 10 8/11 SPARC Bundle and required patchsets
which suggests that patches must be applied to Solaris 10 for it to be functional. A raw install wouldn't be good enough, even for Solaris 10 8/11.

(I'd found that documentation here, by the way.)

Turns out it was a problem with the DVD drive. With the drive disconnected I could boot from internal disc with no problem.

Booted and installed patches ok, all working well. Thanks!
