I guess these functions cannot be accessed in an expression language.1 person found this helpful
Any specific reason why would you want to do that? Why not performing it directly in the code and pass the result?

I want to add a expression programmatically to the existing expression specified on the specific attribute of components in the jspx file.
My strategy is
1. Get the existing expression by UIComponent.getValueExpression()
2. Add an expression string to the existing expression
3. Create a new ValueExpression by ExpressionFactory.createValueExpression() and set it to the component
If the fn:length function is used in the existing expression, ELException is thrown at the step 3.
That may be correct.
I think I should give up this approach.
