We are implementing Oracle R12 and one of the questions we are facing is where to budget for our capital expenditure. Our company has already made the decision that they do not require asset information by cost center and that is what the solution implementer has built (we are past the requirements and build phase). However now that we are testing the system we have discovered that you cannot use the budgeting function in the GL to budget for capex spending by cost center as it all gets "dumped" into one bucket. Our solution implementer has told us that the best alternative is to use the Project module to control spending for capex items. It seems a reasonable alternative but I just wanted to confirm that there is no other way to do it in the GL. Note, we have ruled out seperate FA clearing accounts for each cost center.
