    hi,

    Can you double check? when you install/configure Oracle database, your ORACLE_HOME should be set in /home/oracle, not /home/grid.
    Please try to change to new path of ORACLE_HOME when you re-install Oracle Database.

    When I install Oracle database I set GRID_HOME and ORACLE_HOME.

    honestly, Oracle only have general doc for HPUX Itanium. Make sure you have all software requirement.

    I have configured below environment variables for both grid and oracle users;

    User's Home :
    =========
    "grid" Home - /home/grid
    "oracle" Home - /home/oracle

    For "grid" user on host lclc148 -
    ====================
    bash-4.2$ cat ~/.profile
    export LANG=C
    export EDITOR=vi
    export GRID_HOME=/var/RAC/11.2.0/grid
    export ORACLE_BASE=/var/RAC/grid
    export ORACLE_HOME=$GRID_HOME
    export ORACLE_SID=+ASM2
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin

    For "oracle" user on host lclc148 -
    ======================
    bash-4.2$ cat ~/.profile
    export ORACLE_HOME=/var/RAC/oracle/ODB
    export ORACLE_BASE=/var/RAC/oracle
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin

    For "grid" user on host lclc150 -
    ====================

    bash-4.2$ cat .profile
    export LANG=C
    export EDITOR=vi
    export GRID_HOME=/var/RAC/11.2.0/grid
    export ORACLE_BASE=/var/RAC/grid
    export ORACLE_HOME=$GRID_HOME
    export ORACLE_SID=+ASM1
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin

    For "oracle" user on host lclc150 -
    ====================
    bash-4.2$ cat .profile
    export ORACLE_HOME=/var/RAC/oracle/ODB
    export ORACLE_BASE=/var/RAC/oracle
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin

    Do i need to set any other variables ?

    hi,

    I put GRID_HOME=/var/RAC/11.2.0/grid in Oracle user before start DBCA.
    I did not set ORACLE_HOME in grid user profile only GRID_HOME during DBCA.

    After database created completely, than I put ORACLE_HOME in grid user.

    Also have you run "runcluvfy.sh"? It's pre-check for cluster services setup.

    as grid user:
    $runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n node1, node2

    I have checked running dbca with the same environment variables, but getting same error.

    Btw one question Chen,

    Can we set password with space like "con ley" for below users;
    oracle, grid, SYS, SYSTEM, DBSNMP, SYSMAN etc ?

    Do we can get any sql syntax based error because of this spaces in password ? I am not sure just want to confirm if this could be the reason .

    Also Here is my runcluvfy.sh output :
    ====================

    bash-4.2$ ./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n lclc150,lclc148

    hi,

    You will not able to login if you put space in your password. you can try to login using sqlplus.

    I am not worry about swap space.
    but what happen your interconnect? without private interconnect, your cluster will have problem.

    Ashish,Please let me know the permission and owner/group for the file "oracle"
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle
    $GRID_HOME/bin/oracle

    Normally that's file permission and group should be same on both the loc.

    hi,

    Did you change your password without space and try to install again?

    Oracle binary should have permission of 6751

    cd $GRID_HOME/bin
    chmod 6751 oracle

    cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
    chmod 6751 oracle

    Thanks alot Chen & Rohit for helping me.

    Problem was space in the password. Issue resolved when i reinstalled Grid and Oracle database with new password without space and now it's working fine. Actually oracle never takes password with space.
