    NOt able to start the listener..

      After Indtalling oracle 11g .. i am not able to start the listener

      dbstart $ORACLE_HOME
      lsnrctl start
      ORACLE_SID=orcl
      export ORACLE_SID
      lsnrctl start
      [oracle@test1 bin]$ lsnrctl start

      tried all posibalaties as here
      Oracle 11g Listener Supports No services

      Please help me beacuse of which my work is struck for whole day

              now try

              ps -ef|grep tns

              if no result came then

              [oracle@test1 bin]$ lsnrctl start

              it will start the listener.

                Check your environment variables.,

                echo $ORACLE_SID
                echo $ORACLE_HOME

                and also post your listener.ora entry..,

                        Hi,


                        There is no problem with your listener. Try the below command and If it will return error then check
                        with your tnsnames.ora file whether is having entry for your db or not..

                        Example:

                        $tnsping orcl

                        ORCL =
                        (DESCRIPTION =
                        (ADDRESS_LIST =
                        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
                        )
                        (CONNECT_DATA =
                        (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)

                              your listener machine is test1.com
                              you should use ip of test1.com in tnsname.ora or host as test1.com
