Its Win 7 64 bit Professional.
Need to use 10gR2 only as supported databases have not been upgraded to 11g till now.
Similar issue on Windows 2003 64 bit server; Oracle 10g 64 bit installer failing. Resolved. Google "Oracle Installer windows registry 64 bit installation path". I think ours was HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> ORACLE --> Oracle installation path was set to old, 32 bit Installation path. We changed to 64 bit path. No more Java HOT SPOT address_exception, no more disappearing Installer windows.
