Nope ... that did not work either :( :( :(
[oracle@test1 ~]$ cat /etc/hostsThat is one messed up hosts file.
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
#127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
And please understand that 127.0.0.1 is the local loopback address. No request to 127.0.0.1 ever leaves the machine from which the request was made. And in the hosts file, 127.0.0.1 should never be referred to by anything other than localhost.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost <ip of test1.com> test1.com test1
[oracle@test1 ~]$ lsnrctl startCompletely remove the listener.ora file. The listener is quite capable of starting without it. It will come up with all default values - listener name of LISTENER, listening port of 1521, and accepting dynamic registration from any databases running on the server. If it comes up saying 'supports no services' then you do not have a problem. It supports no services because the databases have not had a chance to self-register yet. Give them a couple of minutes. If they are not up when the listener starts, they will register when they are started.
