I install oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm on ubuntu 12.04 i follow the installation guide from http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
but when i try to run the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure to configure oracle, i get the command not found error
any ideas of what i did wrong?

I use alien to convert the RPM file tu a DEB and then i use the dpkg -i command to install.

thanks

    Hello, and welcome to the OTN forums!
    I install oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm on ubuntu 12.04 i follow the installation guide from http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
    I'm sorry to say, but I don't believe you've actually followed that guide...
    I use alien to convert the RPM file tu a DEB and then i use the dpkg -i command to install.
    This step alone is not documented there, and Ubuntu 12.04 is not listed in the supported OS list of the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm#BABHICJH]System Requirements
    There is a great tutorial for installing 11.2 XE on Ubuntu here: {thread:id=2301639}
    Some things are different from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04, as you can see here: {message:id=10298240}

    I hope this helps you get your XE up and running on your machine as well. If not, please describe which steps you've followed and what results you've received in previous steps.
