I using TEXT_IO & tool_env.getvar for two different concepts. Individually both of the features work ok. Since I'm not using a web version of Oracle forms, I'm sure that I can not use SYS_CONTEXT built-in
TEXT_IO is allowing me to write an output file from my Forms 6i client/server application to my root drive. Matter of fact it allows me to write to user's "c" off of a CITRIX server
tool_env.getvar is also used in my application to access another application via a command window..
now, is the time where I have to combine these two features. Although, after talking you to folks, I see " tool_env.getvar " via forms 6i resolved ORA-302000 error that I previously had. Now, I see my application is telling me that a file is written, but I do not see the file in the specified folder ie "C:\Documents and Settings\sontiv\Application Data\GFS"?
so, now the questions is where did file go to?
1) Tool_Env.Getvar('USERNAME', holder); ==> displayed my OS login ID ( which is "sontiv" )
2) tool_env.getvar('APPDATA', frmpath); ==> displayed the APPDATA path that is defined at the DOS level
3) I embedded "\GFS" folder and file name.. sure nough it worte the file..
Thank you both Andreas & Chirstian for your help!
