I am upgrading from 22.214.171.124 to 12.1.1 and am trying to understand what is needed for step 12, page 3-5 of the R12 upgrade document (Part No. E16342-04), "Apply latest product patches".
I have searched around and there seem to be multiple methods, all of which seem a bit ambiguous.
I have downloaded and run the patchsets.sh script. Can I use that to get an answer for this step?

The script should generate a report for you with the existing patchsets you are on and the latest ones that need to be downloaded from MOS website and need to be applied. The doc explains how to download/run the script and how to understand it -- See "3. Understanding the Patchset Comparison Output" section.
Let me re-phrase the question.
How can I use the patchsets.sh reports to find the latest product patches that need to be applied for this step?

The Report_R12.txt file lists 250 patches.
Even after reading the doc notes it is ambiguous which are needed and which are not.
I was hoping to find a simple, repeatable, unambiguous method for determining which patches would be needed for this step. Alas, that is probably asking too much.
