I have in-depth notes about [url http://ora00600.com/articles/data-guard-physical-standby-upgrade.html]upgrading from 10g to 11g with a physical standby database, which details exactly how I did it. And I also have written a [url http://www.ora00600.com/articles/10g-to-11g-database-upgrade.html]step-by-step oracle 10g to 11g upgrade guide
Are you just updating the standby DBs? Are they physical or logical? With a physical standby you can't upgrade it without upgrading the primary DB, because it's an identical copy, unless there is a way that I don't know of?
Also, personal opinion, why are you going to 10.2.0.5 and not up to 11g? 10g is out of support and if you are taking the time to make an upgrade you might as well go up the a newer version because you will just have to upgrade to 11 in the end anyway.
Hope that helps,
