    Linux - cannot start admin server via wlst

    963952
      Hello,

      I'm trying to start AdminServer via wslt engine, but it unable to start. My scripts are:

      startsSevers.py:

      bea_home = '/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware';
      pathseparator = '/';
      admin_username = 'weblogic';
      admin_password = '1q2w3e1q2w3e';
      listen_address = 'localhost';
      listen_port = '5556';
      admin_server_url='t3://localhost:7002'
      domain_name = 'biatelbit.pl';
      domain_home = bea_home + pathseparator + 'user_projects' + pathseparator + 'domains' + pathseparator + domain_name;

      print 'CONNECT TO NODE MANAGER';
      nmConnect(admin_username, admin_password, listen_address, listen_port, domain_name, domain_home, 'ssl');

      print 'START ADMIN SERVER ONLY ON THE MACHINE WHERE THE ADMIN SERVER IS PRESENT';
      nmStart('AdminServer');

      print 'CONNECT TO ADMIN SERVER';
      connect(admin_username, admin_password, admin_server_url);

      print 'START MANAGED SERVERS ON THE MACHINE';
      start('odi_server1','Server');

      startServersService.sh (used to invoke wlst):

      #!/bin/sh

      BEA_HOME="/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware"
      export BEA_HOME

      WL_HOME="/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3"
      export WL_HOME

      . ${WL_HOME}/common/bin/wlst.sh ${BEA_HOME}/deploy/scripts/startServers.py

      Of course, node manager is running and connection to it is succesfull - this is console output:
      [oracle@eB-ETL2 scripts]$ ./startServersService.sh

      CLASSPATH=/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/patch_wls1036/profiles/default/sys_manifest_classpath/weblogic_patch.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/patch_ocp371/profiles/default/sys_manifest_classpath/weblogic_patch.jar:/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0.x86_64/lib/tools.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/server/lib/weblogic_sp.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/server/lib/weblogic.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/modules/features/weblogic.server.modules_10.3.6.0.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/server/lib/webservices.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/modules/org.apache.ant_1.7.1/lib/ant-all.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/modules/net.sf.antcontrib_1.1.0.0_1-0b2/lib/ant-contrib.jar::/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/utils/config/10.3/config-launch.jar::/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/derby/lib/derbynet.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/derby/lib/derbyclient.jar:/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/derby/lib/derbytools.jar::

      What's wrong? If I start AdminServer using this command:
      /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit.pl/bin/startWebLogic.sh - it starts without any exceptions.

      Do you have any ideas why my server is unable to start when using wlst engine? I need this to implement auto start scripts on my server.

          It seems classpath for Fusion Middleware components is not loaded correctly, try to
          - Put "StartScriptEnabled=true" into nodemanager.properties
          OR
          - Put the same classpath set up by startWebLogic.sh into "Server Start" section of the console (although I'm not sure this works with Admin instance...)

            Hello,

            I've set StartScriptEnabled=true in nodemanaber.properties. AdminServer starts without any error, but there is another exception while starting managed server. This is console output:

            ./startServersService.sh

              I suggest you three things to try and check:

              - Check into domain configuration that the exact name of the managed instance is "odi_server1"

              - Put "nmDisconnect()" after "nmStart('AdminServer');" and before connecting to the admin server.

              - In the .sh script change
              . ${WL_HOME}/common/bin/wlst.sh ${BEA_HOME}/deploy/scripts/startServers.py
              with
              ${WL_HOME}/common/bin/wlst.sh ${BEA_HOME}/deploy/scripts/startServers.py
              ... This is only as a try to see if a different output is generated.

              Bye

                You are right, this was my mistake. Managed server name was provided incorrectly. But, after making some changed (disable hostname verification and provide valid managed server name) I still have some problems. This is console output:

                Why user provided is 'sdjqJgxaOx' ? And how can I setup correct credentials? File boot.properties inside my domain directory is not even loaded, because username/passwrod are not encrypted. However, this file is used when I provide it as argument when starting admin server, this way:
                /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit.pl/bin/startWebLogic.sh -Dweblogic.system.BootIdentityFile=/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/boot.properties

                But this is for admin server only. Where to set correct credentials in my case? I've also tried to change nm_password.properties file - but this is for NodeManager only. And connecting to NodeManager works - as you can see. Do you have any ideas what's wrong?

                  Hi,

                  1st)Can you make the below changes in startsSevers.py file
                  start('managedServerName','Server','managedServerURL')

                  For example,
                  start('managed1','Server','t3://localhost:7701')

                  Your code is looks as below.
                  print 'CONNECT TO ADMIN SERVER';
                  connect(admin_username, admin_password, admin_server_url);
                  print 'START MANAGED SERVERS ON THE MACHINE';
                  start('biatelbit_odi','Server');
                  2nd,Run the scripts with user through which you have installed weblogic,
                  for example if you have installed weblogic through "weblogic"user and your trying to execute script through "sdjqJgxaOx",You might face problems.

                  Regards,
                  Fabian

                    Hello,

                    I have no idea why user name for node manager is was set as "sdjqJgxaOx"?? This is definitely some auto generated value. As the result, node manager was not accesible to my managed server. I don't know how to fix this by editing config files (please tell if you know this), but after providing correct credentials using weblogic administration console problem is gone.

                      Fabian
                      Hi,

                      To change the default Node Manager username and password,
                      Startup the Admin Server and access the administration console.
                      Then, click your domain’s name from the “Domain Structure” area
                      Then navigate to the “Security” tab and click on “Advanced”.
                      You will find the Node Manager credentials
                      Click “Lock and Edit” and change the credentials, then click “Save” and “Activate Changes”. No restarts are required.

                      Also Add managedServerURL in your py file for starting managed server,as suggested in my prev post
                      start('managedServerName','Server','managedServerURL')

                      Regards
                      Fabian

                        Hmm, still there is something I don't understand. I've created second domain, called 'biatelbit_puw'. It has its own AdminServer and one managed server called 'biatelbit_puw_odi". I want to start/stop these 2 domains separately. So, I've created scripts to start 'biatelbit_puw' domain:

                        *startBiatelbit_puw.Service.sh:*
                        #!/bin/sh

                        BEA_HOME="/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware"
                        export BEA_HOME

                        WL_HOME="/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3"
                        export WL_HOME

                        . ${WL_HOME}/common/bin/wlst.sh ${BEA_HOME}/deploy/scripts/startBiatelbit_puw.py

                        *startBiatelbit_puw.py:*
                        bea_home = '/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware';
                        pathseparator = '/';
                        admin_username = 'weblogic';
                        admin_password = '1q2w3e1q2w3e';
                        listen_address = 'localhost';
                        listen_port = '5556';
                        admin_server_url='t3://localhost:7003'
                        domain_name = 'biatelbit_puw';
                        domain_home = bea_home + pathseparator + 'user_projects' + pathseparator + 'domains' + pathseparator + domain_name;

                        print 'CONNECT TO NODE MANAGER';
                        nmConnect(admin_username, admin_password, listen_address, listen_port, domain_name, domain_home, 'ssl');

                        print 'START ADMIN SERVER ONLY ON THE MACHINE WHERE THE ADMIN SERVER IS PRESENT';
                        nmStart('AdminServer');

                        print 'CONNECT TO ADMIN SERVER';
                        connect(admin_username, admin_password, admin_server_url);

                        print 'START MANAGED SERVERS ON THE MACHINE';
                        start('biatelbit_puw_odi','Server');

                        Start node manager script is not changed. So, *start node manager output (no errors):*

                        But, starting this way works (weblogic doesn't ask password):
                        /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit_puw/bin/startWebLogic.sh -Dweblogic.system.BootIdentityFile=/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit_puw/boot.properties

                        As you can see:
                        - there are valid node manager credentials, because connection to node manager is succesfull
                        - there are valid boot.properties file for new domain biatelbit_puw - everything is configured the same way as biatelbit.pl (old domain).

                        But when I'm trying to start AdminServer using wlst, no credentials are provided (username is empty!) and AdminServer don't even start. Note that old domain - biatelbit.pl works and admin server that belongs to biatelbit.pl starts without any problems. Do you have any ideas what's wrong here?

                          Maybe this happens because the default location where the NodeManager searches for Administrative instance security login is
                          /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit_puw/servers/AdminServer/security/boot.properties

                          This is why it works when you specify the BootIdentityFile option...

                          I suggest you to copy the /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit_puw/boot.properties
                          file to
                          /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/biatelbit_puw/servers/AdminServer/security/boot.properties

                          In that location there is no boot.properties file or it is incorrect in the new domain biatelbit_puw

                          Bye
