The support matrix in document ID 742060.1 says that Instantclient 22.214.171.124 was to be available for Apple OSX in second quarter of 2012. I can't find it on the downloads page. Is it available? If not, when will it be?

The patch is not available yet, because Qn CYyyyy - even if that refers to the current or a past quarter - means that the patch is still in planning/development. If the patch were available then there would be a "DD-MMM-YYYY: Available, date shown is when the patch set was made available on My Oracle Support/MetaLink".

I can't answer this - the information is not available. From the note itself: "Because Support cannot provide any dates other than these to customers, please do not log a Service Request asking for a schedule update."
Not particularly helpful - I would have expected something more positive.
Come on Oracle, you can do better than this...
I bought a shiny new Mac Book Air with Mountain Lion and cannot use it (well, I can use it if I downgrade to Snow Leopard.. grrrr), but then all my iCloud stuff wont work). I feel stuck... hate being stuck!
Just release the IC as Open Source.... you guys LOVE open source, no?! ...buying MySQL and so forth.
You can use it with Mountain Lion, you just have to use the 32 bit version.
This is what I've done on Mountain Lion. (I'm developing with php with oci8).
I have a dual stack setup where I installed universal binary versions of apache and all dependencies in my dev environment. Normally I use the 64 bit version, when I need to use oracle I just pass "arch -i386" on the httpd launch call to load the 32 bit version with oracle. Then in my config files for 64 bit I don't load oci8. This is a PITA to maintain but it works for now.
Considering this is a public forum with (mostly) non Oracle employees, I don't see what you could gather from it about whether Oracle cares or not.
Also Oracle would probably not want to discuss platform support in these forums.
However, looking at one of the follow ups above, response and mentioned support matrix from Support seem to indicate that OS X still is supported. The process is also two sided -- does Apple take active part in the certification process?
If you really want to adress Oracle, contact Oracle Support (raise SR) and/or talk to your customer rep. The product manager for the Database family of products (which Client is a part of) might be a point of contact as well.
I just got a note from our pre-sales engineer who had some contact with the Development manager for the Mac IC. The new (unpublished) release date looks to before the end of January (2013). One can only hope....
