I would like to be able to have the ability to add actual URL links to OEM. It would be convenient to utilize OEM as a one-stop source to access any additional consoles that would be utilized. For instance, on the Summary page, have a spot that shows links to WLS Console and OID/OES, etc etc. Is this possible? I was browsing the Add Non-Host targets section, but the descriptions are quite vague. Does anyone have any insight into this?
You can add bookmarks/favorites in your browser (e.g. Firefox, IE, etc).
Then it is just 1-2 clicks to get to whichever URL you are trying to reach.
Is there any reason regular browser bookmarks supported by all standard browsers doesn't work for you?
If you would like target or target-type specific links, you can consider adding a custom property to the target type. As i understand there is an EMCLI to allow users to add custom properties to target types - let me know if you want to pursure this and I get you more info.
The reason that a standard bookmark system does not work is due to the inconsistency of the computers, as well as the security of the network that we operate on. So, we utilize many computers in many different locations, all used to access many different consoles. The only thing that is consistent to all of these computers is the access to the OEM server. Our security does not allow us to save bookmarks and have them follow us to other machines. So the only solution would be to have something within OEM that stores URLs, that we could access through the OEM GUI. That way, any user that logs on and accesses OEM from any machine that can access OEM...will have access to those consoles as well.
That sounds like it has potential. Could you provide an example of how this would be implemented? How would the property be accessed? How would a user be able to access the URL within the OEM interface?
Or maybe I could deploy an HTML page or something similar into the OEM and just use the OEM URL to access it? This is new territory for me, so I am not sure if this is a license issue or not. But maybe have the ability to access https://oemserver:port/em/links.html
Does anyone know how to go about doing something like this? If I were to create a simple HTML page or web application and deploy it within the OMS? Then it could be accessed from the OEM console link hopefully... Any idea where to start research on this? To be honest...I have no idea where to even start.
