Since we upgraded to 184.108.40.206, 64 bit (from 9.3.1 32 bit), we are having performance problems in calculations.
We did a lot of checkings with Oracle Support help, and we didn't manage to solve the problem.
Those checkings included System Preferences, apples to apples comparision (exactly the same DB in the same application, with the same definitions and the same data), running calc as HBR, calc, from eas and from planning.
We noticed that the performance problem is only in "sparse calculations", minning that the left side of the formula is a sparse member. For example:
Period and Accont are Dense
Region and Year are Sparse
This calc runs ok (same time an both 220.127.116.11 and 9.3.1):
This calc doesn't run ok (20 min in 9.3.1, hours in 18.104.22.168, or 1 sec in 9.3.1 and 2 min in 22.214.171.124)
Somebody knows what is the solution to this problem?
(PLEASE NOTE THAT WE SEE AS A PROBLEM ONLY THE DIFFERENCES IN PERFORMANCE BETWEEN SYSTEMS, WE DON'T LOOK FOR ADVISES SUCH AS "USE DENSE CALC").
Are you using calc parallel in any of the scripts or essbase.cfg as I wonder if the following doc in Oracle Support helps in anyway - "Essbase 126.96.36.199 Calculations/Business Rules Performance Degradation from Previous Versions [ID 1393530.1]"
