I am trying to find out the description and settings for the User and System settings in the Runtime Environmental Settings in the Java Control Panel.
I have read the Control Panel information:
But this doesnt specifically specify what the User and System tabs are used to configure.
This may be trivial to most but i cannot find out the correct answer.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yeah that's the right page, "Java Runtime Parameters" below the explanation of "Java Runtime Environment Settings".
eg. I have "-Djavaplugin.trace=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option=basic|net|cache|security|ext|liveconnect|temp" in user&system.
One is settings for the User. The other is for the System as a whole. I know this is not all that much more clear! The settings in the Control Panel are tied back to the configuration files. Here is some more detail.
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html#overview The deployment.properties file is used for storing and retrieving deployment configuration properties in the Java Control Panel. They are also used for customizing runtime behavior for both Java Plug-in and Java Web Start. There is always a User-Level deployment.properties file. Its location, which is non-configurable, is described below. There may also be an (optional) System-Level deployment.properties file. If it exists, its location is determined by a System Administrator through the deployment.config file as described below.
Hope this helps,
