I would probably look at this to try and solve this issue :
For windows you can use domain user with ORA_DBA domain role and connect just "/ as sysdba".
I was looking for a more in build solution without using another configuration - but will settle for this if no option is available
Thanks for the response.
Thanks for the response - but you cannot log-in to a remote target/DB only when the parameter remote_os_authent is set to TRUE.
I don't want to do this either.
Another way to secure sysdba connections is to use Oracle Internet Directory wich provides different authentication methods such as kerberos, ssl etc.1 person found this helpful
One more method. You can use Scheduler that will run backup job on remote database. You use CREATE_CREDENTIAL procedure to provide password and sysdba role for the job.

Hi, I created the wallet with UserA and now I want to put a scheduled job with a service account UserB but am not able to access the wallet.
Its Windows 2008 and I have explicitly added the UserB as Full permission for the wallet file. The error message is below
ORA-12578: TNS:wallet open failed
Am pretty sure its a permission issue - but not sure how to provide the permission. UserB is in Admin Group, ORA_DBA Group, can log-in a batch job .........
Any pointer greatly appreciated.
