Hello Guys, I need to understand deep information abut difference btw control file , p file, sp file. I know that sp file / p file needs to start DB .
And if there is any other critical files to DB that must to be understand about if i m missing !!
newbieDBA wrote:sp file is binary while p file is text file & either can be used to start the DB.
I start DB with sp file missing by "sql>startup pfile ...", that i know,
But what is control file all about? what if both p & sp file is damanged/gone/deleted ? (what if ders no other copy of pfile /spfile anywhere?)
what diff btw p & sp?
newbieDBA wrote:without either p or sp file, then DB does not start
okei , but why 2 files? why one is made binary and why one is made text?-(if im not wrong both p and sp files are startup files right?)
both files alternate for each-other?
what if both p and sp files both unavailable in all cases
but why 2 files?Pre V9i, there was only one parameter file, called the parameter file (the initSID.ora).
what is control file all aboutIt maintains the list of datafiles and online redo log files. You cannot MOUNT or OPEN the database if the controlfile is missing or corrupt.
