    Hi user4496274,

    you can always set fixed width to your input items (for example 446px).

    When is the layout difference between ie8 and firefox ?
    IE8 does not support the :notCSS3 <tt>:not</tt> pseudo-class selector, which is used in theme 25 to control the width of the input controls in the login form:
    #uLoginContainer div.fieldContainer div.fieldControls input:not([type="checkbox"]),
    #uLoginContainer div.fieldContainer div.fieldControls textarea,
    #uLoginContainer div.fieldContainer div.fieldControls select {
      width: 100%;
    }
    Is there also an other solution ?
    Provide a rule supported by IE8 in the Inline CSS property of the Login page template that sets the input control width to 100%:
    .ie8 #uLoginContainer div.fieldContainer div.fieldControls input[type="text"],
    .ie8 #uLoginContainer div.fieldContainer div.fieldControls input[type="password"] {
      width: 100%;
    }
