What is this "orcl" entry for?

I hope that "HOST = hostname" has been modified in this posting for public consumption, and in your actual file you have the actual name of the host system.

So was that entry in your listner.ora supposed to be part of the SID_LIST section? I'm suggesting that your listener.ora is malformed. If you simply delete it (rename it to listener.save), you should be able to restart your listener with no problems. It will come up with all default values, which should be fine. Within a couple of minutes of coming up, all running databases will have registered with it.
and orcl db is running but listener is not running.why unable to start my listener using services.msc in windows and unable to create new listener using net configuration assistant (giving error as "could not create listener")
