Issue with 12c OEM Active/Passive configuration

      Hi All,

We have installed OEM 12c Cloud Control on our test box and a Management Agent on another box. Both are running fine. Now, we would also like to install a second OMS so we have a Active/Passive configuration. But, the confusion is, the document says we need to install OMS on a shared storage to run in Active/Passive configuration. This is the link http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/ha_setup.htm#CEGCCCDE.

My question is, did anyone install OEM in Active/Passive configuration? If so, I'd grateful if you can share the procedure.

The documentation is correct. If you wish to install using an active/passive configuration you must install Enterprise Manager on a filesystem that is accessible from both hosts. You also need to use a virtual hostname when you install as this hostname will float between the two hosts, depending on which one is active.

Another option is multi-OMS (active/active). In this configuration the installation is not done on shared storage, however an SLB (server load balancer) is required.

This table outlines the various options for HA:

          Regards, Mark.

we need shared location for binaries and the gc_inst directory. Central inventory will be on shared location. Storage can be managed by the clusterware that is in use or you can use any shared file system (FS) volume, such as NFS, as long as it is not an unsupported type, such as OCFS V1

All the instructions are giving here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/ha_setup.htm#CEGCCCDE
