Rapid Install Fails on HTTP, Help Page, Virtual Directory, JSP, Login Page

Hi

I am trying to install EBS 12.1.1 on Linux (64 bit) and it is always failing at Post Install Checks.
uname -a
Linux d-erp.mydomain 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Dec 7 10:41:06 EST 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Rapid Install Start CD is latest ie 12.1.1.11 obtained from Metalink. Staging area was created prior to installation. Packages on OS were checked as mentioned in the install Guide. In note 414414.1 a temporary workaround is mentioned but again i am not sure how to implement that.
Currently following a note 736689.1 and this is where i need some help.
The note mentions checking for symbloic links and then relinking libraries. Since I am new to EBS I am not really sure how to perform such operation. The error in one of the logs looks like this
sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Your help is appreciated.

    Another observation.

    I was browsing the forum for possible solutions and noticed that Mr. Hussain suggested relinking in one of the post.

    Re: Not Able to Run ADADMIN after Cloning

    I thought I should give it a try. Surprisingly, although I think i was sourcing the right env still APPL_TOP was not set and therefore following error would show.

    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ echo $ORACLE_HOME
    /u01/app/oracle/apps/tech_st/10.1.3
    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ echo $APPL_TOP

    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ export ORACLE_HOME=
    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ echo $ORACLE_HOME

    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ . ERPDB_d-erp.env
    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ echo $ORACLE_HOME
    /u01/app/oracle/apps/tech_st/10.1.2
    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ echo $APPL_TOP

    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ pwd
    /u01/app/oracle/inst/apps/ERPDB_d-erp/ora/10.1.2

    [oracle@d-erp 10.1.2]$ cd /u01/app/oracle/apps/apps_st/appl/ad/12.0.0/bin
    [oracle@d-erp bin]$ ./adrelink.sh force=y "ad adadmin"

    APPL_TOP is not set.
    Please set the value of APPL_TOP to your installation directory.
    [oracle@d-erp bin]$
    So running the .env exported ORACLE_HOME etc but APPL_TOP was still not set.

    Is that normal? Any comments, suggestions?
    Please help

    Hi

    Focusing on the lib*, I tried checking it in various places. It seems odd that the link is pointing to some location that is not known to me
    [root@d-erp lib32]# pwd
    /u01/app/oracle/db/tech_st/11.1.0/lib32
    [root@d-erp lib32]# ls -l libcl*
    -rw-r--r--. 1 oracle dba 5831462 Sep 11  2008 libclient11.a
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 oracle dba      57 Jan 25 00:48 libclntsh.so -> /u01/app/oracle/db/tech_st/11.1.0/lib32/libclntsh.so.11.1
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 oracle dba      61 Jan 25 00:45 libclntsh.so.10.1 -> /d2/R12/ab/apps/R1211XB9/db/tech_st/11.1.0/lib32/libclntsh.so
    -rw-r--r--. 1 oracle dba       0 Sep 12  2008 libclntst11.a
    [root@d-erp lib32]#
    /d2/R12/ab?? This path is certainly not on my machine. Could that be the issue? Also how can i fix it by creating proper symbolic link if that is the issue?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi

    Another update regarding same file. In the apps directory also it doesnt seem right

    [root@d-erp lib]# ls -l libclntsh*
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 oracle dba 57 Jan 25 01:19 libclntsh.so -> /u01/app/oracle/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/lib/libclntsh.so.10.1
    There is a file in db directory.
    [root@d-erp lib]# pwd
    /u01/app/oracle/db/tech_st/11.1.0/lib
    [root@d-erp lib]# ls -l libcl*
    -rw-r--r--. 1 oracle dba  8795474 Sep 11  2008 libclient11.a
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 oracle dba       17 Jan 25 00:49 libclntsh.so -> libclntsh.so.11.1
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 oracle dba       59 Jan 25 00:45 libclntsh.so.10.1 -> /d2/R12/ab/apps/R1211XB9/db/tech_st/11.1.0/lib/libclntsh.so
    -rwxr-xr-x. 1 oracle dba 48333796 Jan 25 00:49 libclntsh.so.11.1
    My question is whether it is safe to make all symbolic links based on libclntsh.so.11.1 under db directory?

    Please suggest.

    Hi

    I finally made it to work. Did a complete reinstall of OS and then followed the installation guide. I suppose that my OS configuration was not correct.

    Anyways, Hussein's posts were extremely helpful.

    For others facing the same issue, few suggestions.

    In the installation guide it is mentioned that few packages (32bit) are required and can be downloaded from http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/files/Enterprise_Linux. This is extremely important. Also there are atleast 2 patches that need to be downloaded and applied before performing the installation. One for Oracle HTTP and other for Start CD. Finally environment shall be set exactly as mentioned in the doc. It seems like time consuming but I personally believe that nothing shall be left on chance otherwise alot of your time will be wasted in troubleshooting.

    Best of Luck to all :-)

    Hi Mav

    I may not have done it the recommended way but here is a brief of what I did to make it to work. After OS installation I disabled SELINUX
    SELINUX=disabled
    I stopped the firewall
    service iptables stop
    I edited hosts file and commented all the lines previously there and added following lines
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    myIP myHostName.myDomain myHostname
    I edited /etc/sysconfig/network file and added Fully Qualified Domain Name in HOSTNAME entry
    HOSTNAME=myHostName.myDomain
    I configured yum to easily download packages etc.
    (http://public-yum.oracle.com)
    cd /etc/yum.repos.d
    export http_proxy=http://proxyserverName:port
    wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol6.repo
    Edited *.repo file created under /etc/yum.repos.d directory and set parameter enabled=1

    Now after completing above steps I downloaded firefox since it is my preferred browser
    yum install firefox

    Finally I opened the note 761566.1 that discusses the installation steps.

    As I said earlier, you shall get the packages that are mentioned in the requirements from http://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/files/Enterprise_Linux
    When you are downloading and installing package for example openmotif21 from oss.oracle.com you will notice that there are some dependencies, use "yum" to get those dependencies by simply listing them first and then downloading and installing the missing ones.
    yum list package name for example
    yum list glibc*
    Then install the ones that are required (Note: I installed both the package and -devel versions for both i686 and .x86_64)
    I also downloaded and applied oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall-1.0-6.el6.x86_64 (It is not mentioned in the doc hence maybe it is not required)
    Once this is done, download and apply the patches that are mentioned in the doc (1 for HTTP and one for latest Start CD)
    DONOT forget to rename unzip before you start the installation.
    Also, make sure that environment is set before you proceed.

    Again, it may sound like a tedious job but if you follow the doc 761566.1 and perform steps EXACTLY as mentioned there, you should not face any problems.

    Let me know if I can be of any help. (Although I am myself new to this stuff)
    :-)
