I am a newbie to Oracle and Linux both.

I've installed Oracle 11 G R2 on Fedora 14 on a Virtual Machine (VMWARE) on Windows 7

I installed oracle and now I can start listner and open the database.

But my problem is I can start EM console on firefox.

When I try to start it gives me this error.

[oracle@localhost ~]$ emctl start dbconsole
OC4J Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_localhost.localdomain_DB11G not found.

Please HELP me :(

    Hi,

Go to /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee folder. You will find OC4J_DBConsole_????FULL_HOST_NAME????_DB11G folder.
Just copy and paste this folder and rename it to OC4J_DBConsole_localhost.localdomain_DB11G.

    Regards,

    Dear Sir/Madam

    I don't find a OC4J_DBConsole_????FULL_HOST_NAME????_DB11G inside /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee folder

I think my full hostname is localhost.localdomain , If so there is no OC4J_DBConsole_localhost.localdomain_DB11G there :(

Fedora is not a supported distro - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24321/pre_install.htm#CIHFICFD - so things may or may not work as advertised. Is there a reason for not using a supported OS version ?

First of all you do not have to say Sir or Madam to anybody. We are just all proffessional here. Just use persons name or id to greet if you want.
I am not sure but sometimes path is not set right. so try to go to agent_home/bin and run the command from there. Check if that works.
Also I do agree with Srini , Installing on non supported version can gives you weid issues.

Fedora is not certified OS with Oracle. You can install KVM and Create your own Vmware and choose Certified OS .

    ok.

    1) set environment variables, (ORACLE_HOME; ORACLE SID, etc.)
    2) start the listener, (lsnrctl status to see state and lsnrctl start, etc.)
    3) go to ORACLE_HOME/bin, then

    ./emca -config dbcontrol db

    follow the steps and

    4) go to https://[yourlocalhost]:[youport]/em

    Regards...
