dynamic groups

hi all,
first question :
1- is dynamic group the record group which is created at runtime ?
2- i can create the record group at runtime by this code :

declare
rg recordgroup ;
g_id number ;
begin
rg := create_group_from_query('tmp','select * from dept') ;
g_id := populate_group ;
end ;
but i do not know how to use it at runtime , i know that record groups are always used in a lov , but i can not use this in a lov because the editor can not identify the record group at design time (it is not created yet) .
how is it used ?
thanks in advance

    hi
    dynamic group is the query u specified between single quote we called it dynamic cause it is created at runtime
    it is only used for lists and displayed through the code above.
    but
    for lov u only copied the query itself and through the lov wizard steps the form creates a record group itself and specifies which item assigned to lov

    hope it's clear :-)

    Yes, but not for LOV

    Hi Semsem,

    LOV record group cannot create at runtime, your can restring data of LOV record group base on your condition dynamically. For your dynamic group, here is an example
    How to Dynamically Populate a Pop List ?

    Hope this helps

    and displayed through the code above.
    it does not , it does not unless i use populate list to populate the list with it's data .

    Hi semsem,
    Yes. You don't see anything or realize without populating list, what you dynamically created.

    It seems it's clear to you. ;)

    Hope this helps

    thanks to you , but the link is saying the same words hamidhelal is saying , "the record group can not display it's data unless i use the populate_list built-in to populate a pop list .

    but i asked because you've said that the code i've written can display the data normally without mentioning populate-list issue ?

    thanks

    This is definitely right u cannot use it without populate list sorry i didn't look at urn code depth just concentrate on the confusion between both list
    sorry again ahamid was right
