Please excuse me if it fetches your precious time to read such a long request.
I need your help in applying patch over 18.104.22.168 Grid and 22.214.171.124 on single node stand alone databases.
I downloaded the two patches as given below and unzipped it under the directory /export/psu_grid and /export/PSU_Patch respectively. When I unzipped the grid patch I was little disturbed to see two numbers highlighted(So checked oracle documents and found it is a bundle for both rdbms and GI homes).
But I want to apply grid and rdbms homes seperatly, because I get confused when i read its readme.html file, because it talks about RAC only.
If I apply to GI home seperatly, Should I select 15876003 instead of 14727310 , Please check the below document which I have framed and guide me accordingly.
Got from Oracle docs: For 126.96.36.199.5 BUG 14727347 - GRID INFRASTRUCTURE PATCH SET UPDATE 188.8.131.52.5 contains BUG 15876003 - GRID INFRASTRUCTURE PATCH SET UPDATE 184.108.40.206.5 (GI COMPONENTS) BUG 14727310 - DATABASE PATCH SET UPDATE 220.127.116.11.5
In this example, the <GI_PSU_number> is 14727347; the <GI_Components_number> is 15876003; and the <DB_PSU_number> is 14727310.
Here is my document: Please rectify me if I am going wrong in any way.
Opatch version is : 18.104.22.168.0 ( SO I am good to go with Jan PSU patch i guess)
Grid patch (14727347) > 15876003(GI component) and 14727310(DB_PSU_Number) > I guess for grid the patch# 15876003
RDBMS Patch (14727310)
I will follow the following steps.
1. Validate the Oracle Inventory.
/opt/grid/11.2.0/grid/OPatch/opatch lsinventory -detail -oh /u01/app/asm/product/22.214.171.124/grid
/u01/app/asm/product/126.96.36.199/grid/bin/crsctl check has
/u01/app/asm/product/188.8.131.52/grid/bin/crsctl check css
10. If CSS is not online ran the below command.
/u01/app/asm/product/184.108.40.206/grid/bin/crsctl modify resource "ora.cssd" -attr "AUTO_START=1"
/u01/app/asm/product/220.127.116.11/grid/bin/crsctl modify resource "ora.diskmon" -attr "AUTO_START=1"
/u01/app/asm/product/18.104.22.168/grid/bin/crsctl stop has
/u01/app/asm/product/22.214.171.124/grid/bin/crsctl start has
11. Bring Up the ASM and apply as shown below and same way for Databases.
@catbundle.sql psu apply
12. Finally will run the below command on grid and Oracle.
I think I know that much, I had already applied many patches..
Open the current PSU for GI 11gR2, you will definitely find difficulty in understanding, if their is a separate patch or same patch for ASM and GI Home. It is written that it is meant for GI RAC home but what about the standalone ASM home..Then it should've been different for ASM standalone.
My Point is: If someone has really applied JAN2013 patch over 11gR2 (with standAlone server and ASM), then please help me, else please don't assume things.
You have a separate ASM and GI home? We don't - ASM runs out of our GI home. I fairly sure that's the norm (because that's how our Exadata machines are set up). If our case, there's no such thing as an ASM standalone home...
Let me suggest something:
Use a response file for applying a PSU on any Grid construction. It's sounds litte bit like voodoo, but given you did the usual preparation and checking, it's usually just three steps:
* Apply p6880880 for the most recent OPatch utility (you have to do this anyway as a prereq of the PSU)
* Create the response file (execute $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp - this binary comes with recent p6880880's) and move it to any convenient directory for the next step
* Do "opatch auto ./install/11203psu5 -ocmrf ./ocm.rsp"
I did it this way seven times now, and can't see a reason not to make it my common for the future.
